The Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe and the Fortress of Sagres, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, and the Ruins of Milreu, in Faro, are the three monuments in the Algarve that will receive funding for conservation works, under the of the Culture component of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), confirmed to the Sul Informação source from the Ministry of Culture.

Graça Fonseca, Minister of Culture, at the end of the Council of Ministers dedicated to this sector, confirmed the interventions «in a total of 46 Museums and Monuments and three National Theaters». However, the complete list was not released soon.

In a clarification sent to our newspaper, the Ministry of Culture revealed this list which includes, in the Algarve, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe, the Fortress of Sagres and the Roman Ruins of Milreu.

According to the same source, the needs assessment work was carried out before the pandemic and allowed the drawing up of “a list of interventions worth 150 million euros, which will be carried out under the culture component of the RRP, in the total amount of €243 million'.

The amount that will arrive in the Algarve for interventions in these monuments is not yet known, and should be applied to conservation work.

This means that the musealization of the exhibition center at the Fortress of Sagres, which will have the work consignment document signed "soon", is a separate investment, as he explained to Sul Informação Adriana Freire Nogueira, regional director of Culture.
