Lar da Misericórdia de São Brás will have requalification and expansion works

The amplified area, which will be built from scratch, will have 12 new double rooms

The Home for the Elderly at Santa Casa da Misericórdia in São Brás de Alportel will be the target of refurbishment and expansion works, in an investment of around 2 million euros. 

«The expansion and remodeling work of the building of the Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI), Day Center and Home Support Service of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of São Brás de Alportel will allow the replacement of 85 beds of the capacity recognized in the agreement of cooperation with Social Security and give greater comfort to users», says the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

The amplified area, which will be built from scratch, will have 12 new double rooms, a living room and activities room with pantry. The existing area will be preserved, but remodeled to improve the comfort of those who work and live in this space.

The execution of the project prepared by Arquitráfego, Lda, was awarded to the company Martins Gago & Filhos, Lda, for the value of 2.091.922,95 euros.

This investment is financed by community funds from Portugal 2020 – CRESCalgarve, but also with support from the Rainha D. Leonor Fund (Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisbon and União das Misericórdias Portuguesas) and the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.

With the launch of this work, Santa Casa da Misericórdia «intends to renew hope for a better future, increase the quality of services provided and the number of users supported, provide better comfort conditions for users and employees, stimulate economic recovery and create more work stations".
