Football: Algarve districts end, Immortal nominated to move up to Portugal Championship

This season, there will be no split downs.

The Algarve Football Association (AFA) ended the district football championships, indicating Imortal, from Albufeira, as the team that climbs to the Portuguese Championship.

The competitions had been stopped since the second general confinement and the AFA ended up taking this decision, after meetings between the clubs and the analysis of «developments determined by the health authorities».

Even so, the AFA states that its objective was that the «resumption of the races was a reality», but the «prevention of the participation by several teams on the initially foreseen date makes it impossible in terms of available calendar dates».

Based on this, at this time, «there will be no champions» and the AFA decided to designate Immortal as the Algarve's representative for the Portuguese Championship.

SC Farense B will ascend to the I Division of the Algarve Football Championship.

In the event that the Portuguese Cup regulations allow the appointment of another team, Associação de Futebol do Algarve will appoint FC Ferreiras.

This season, there will be no split downs.

«As informed last season, it is AF Algarve's objective to normalize this competition within the scope of the participation of 12 clubs, so that the 2021/2022 season will entail the number of relegations necessary for the next season's competition to start only with 12 clubs».

"This is a very considered decision and it was difficult to take, as we always fought for the resumption of the tests, which we also gave due consideration to in the meetings held with the clubs, but we consider that, considering all the circumstances, it is the only decision fair to be taken. This desire for recovery expressed by us has always been accompanied by the majority of clubs, whose contributions and efforts at this very difficult time, we already recognize and thank”, concludes the AFA.
