A corner, a penalty and a “bomb” from Beto gave victory to Portimonense, this Friday, against Vitória de Guimarães, at home, at the start of the 26th round of the Primeira Liga.

Portimonense started the game better and, after 5 minutes, at the first opportunity of the match, they got the advantage. Luquinha hit a corner from the left and Lucas Possignolo, in the small area, didn't even need to jump to head successfully to 1-0.

Vitória de Guimarães, who debuted Bino as new coach, tried to react to the disadvantage but, in the first half, taking a shot to the side, in the 24th minute, by Mensah, could not take any danger to Samuel Portugal's goal.

The second half started with a move that could have been 2-0 for Portimonense. Bruno Varela left the area, collided with a teammate, the ball fell to Beto who, with the goal unguarded, shot over the top.

At 49, Vitória de Guimarães responded, but Samuel Portugal denied the draw. Edwards appeared in the keeper's face, shot a shot, but the keeper stretched and made the save.

The duel between Edwards and Samuel was repeated in the 58th minute. The player from Guimarães took a free-kick on the edge of the area, the ball was in good direction, but Samuel Portugal flew and held the shot.

At 61 minutes, a penalty for Portimonense. Estupiñan was reckless, raised his foot, hitting Beto in the area, and the VAR confirmed the referee's initial decision. In the maximum penalty kick, Dener put the shot in and made it 2-0 for the Algarve.

Five minutes later, Beto scored the goal of the game. He received the ball in midfield, dribbled a defender from Vitoria and, in the area, fired a “bomb” with his left foot into the back of Bruno Varela's net.

Vitória could have reduced it to 76′, but Samuel stretched out and prevented Estupiñan's crossed shot from hitting a goal.

The final whistle came and Portimonense added the second consecutive victory, which allows the Algarveans to “jump”, in condition, to 9th place in the table.
