The esplanades reopened: 13 suggestions to deconfine safely

The partial deconfinement started this Monday, April 5th, and, little by little, the restoration is returning to normality.

It was with enthusiasm that the owners saw the measure come into effect, seen as a breath of fresh air. Restaurants with terraces had White card to reopen doors on Monday, April 5th, so they can serve their customers again.

With a maximum of 4 people (if they are not from the same household) per table, most of the restaurants that have terraces are already working in the Algarve. Covered terraces can also work, as long as there is air circulation. With regard to timetables, on weekdays they can be open until 22:30 pm and, on holidays and weekends, they close at 13:00 pm.

So that you can be safe, but still enjoy the pleasures of a terrace, here are some suggestions for the Algarve:

 

 

 

We started with a restaurant on the beach. O beautiful lady is on the beach of Monte Gordo and is a relatively new restaurant (it opened in May 2019). With a terrace decorated in detail and a privileged view over the sea, here you can try Algarve delicacies and beyond. The menu is more focused on fish and seafood, as being by the sea, it makes the most sense, but if you want, you can also choose meat dishes, such as black pork cheeks or the entrecote.

At Praça Dr. António Padinha, in Tavira, there is an appointment at the restaurant Meeting point. It was «with joy» that, through social networks, the Ponto de Encontro restaurant announced that it would reopen its doors on April 5th. On Avenida 5 de Outubro, in Olhão, the 7 i half Wine Bar  is back and created a weekly menu.

The owners took advantage of the confinement to remodel the space and reopen it with new ideas.

With a different menu from Monday to Friday, for €9 per person, you can enjoy your meal outdoors. If you like good wine, this restaurant is ideal. To accompany, you can also order some tapas.

O platter, on Rua de Santo António, in Faro, is ready to serve you, and it was with encouragement that they posted on the social network Facebook to warn customers that the doors would reopen. «The 5th of April has never had so much meaning, as it is on this day that our terrace will reopen and our stoves go back to work».

This restaurant is known for its tapas and wines. Highly recommended for its good atmosphere and its location in downtown Faro.

The coffee the bandstandOn Faro, «offers a service in the restaurant area for over 30 years». Located in front of the Manuel Bivar garden and with a privileged view of the Dock, the Bandstand has reopened its terrace. Here you can enjoy the café, restaurant, bar or ice cream parlor. All the reasons are good to sit on this beautiful terrace and enjoy the view, which, in the late afternoon, is particularly beautiful.

Located in the heart of the city of Loulé, the panties coffee, since 1929, it is considered one of the most emblematic historic cafés in Portugal. There is no better excuse to return to your routine and have breakfast, perhaps accompanied by a Loulé puff pastry, on this terrace full of history.

«Among groups and small groups, between lonely looks and scalded spouts, Café Calcinha saw the passing of two World Wars and saw the birth of democracy in Portugal». And now it even sees the pandemic pass…

O Cheeky Pup, in Quinta do Lago, has one of the most frequented terraces in the Algarve. With a modern and super colorful decor, this Irish gastro bar serves signature cocktails that are well worth a visit. In this space, you can have the usual meals or choose to have a drink in the late afternoon, to relax after a day at work. The atmosphere is calm, relaxed and friendly. Craft beers are also part of the menu.

For seafood lovers, with a privileged location, next to the Quarteira beach promenade, Marisqueira Santiago is a good option. The restaurant reopened its doors on Monday, April 5th, and recommends all its customers to book in advance so that they can comply with all the security measures imposed, as the terrace space is limited.

What if the late afternoon plan is by the sea? In Ferragudo, when you go down the stairs of Praia Grande, you find the Club Nau.

The hottest days are already felt and, therefore, a terrace by the sea is never a discarded place for beach lovers. In this space that resembles a “Nau”, as it is a wooden restaurant right next to the beach, there are refreshing cocktails, good wines and a breathtaking sunset.

O Beech marten is the restaurant of the Portimão Museum. It is located on the riverside and has a terrace with the Arade as a backdrop. Spring is already making itself felt, the late afternoons are longer, and on this terrace you can enjoy a good time to relax with the company of a beautiful view to accompany a good drink and/or a snack.

During the week, from 12:00 to 22:30, and at the weekend, «we make an appointment for an aperitif with a special menu for takeaways», from 11:00 am to 13:00 pm.

For those who like to try new flavors and get to know other cultures at a gastronomic level, in Carvoeiro, the Gurkha Kitchen it has a very inviting terrace to serve you.

Located a 2-minute walk from Algar Seco's wooden walkway, Gurkha is a Nepalese and Indian cuisine restaurant. The restaurant is recognized for its good service and modern decor, combined with excellent cuisine.

O Sea Of Stories, is located in Lagos, very close to the Cultural Center, and is a very small terrace Cozy. On this terrace, you can “enjoy the perfect combination between the sea breeze and the historical inspiration suggested by the tops of the monuments”.

This bar serves snacks and snacks, such as salads, hamburgers, soups, nails, among others. But it is more popular for its drinks, as the view calls for a glass of wine with some olives to snack on. The drinks list includes wines, liqueurs, gins and some signature cocktails.

At the southernmost tip of Portugal, which is to say, in Sagres, we find the three little birds. The idea came up in 2016 from the minds of three friends who wanted to do what they love most and share with friends and customers.
