Ricardo José was elected and was elected chairman of the board of the Regional Association of Sailing in the South (ARVS). The new governing bodies for the 2021/2025 quadrennium were elected and took office on March 11, 2021, at the Ordinary General Electoral Assembly, held in Albufeira, by secret ballot.
Of the 12 effective members, with voting rights, 11 associates attended and voted, in a total of 130 votes.
List A, the only candidate for the governing bodies, led by Ricardo José, obtained 128 votes in favor and 2 blank votes, while for the Regional Arbitration Council, 2 lists competed. List B, led by Rui Raimundo, obtained 90 votes in favor, against the 40 votes in favor of List A.
For Ricardo José, recently elected chairman of the board, «it is with a great sense of mission and public duty that this young and professional team, begins a new stage in the life of ARVS, to continue the work of the previous governing bodies and print a new dynamic to the sport of regional sailing».
According to the director, this election is not an individual victory, but rather that of all members, directors, coaches, referees and sailors who believe in this project for the promotion and development of regional sailing.
According to the Regional Association of Vela do Sul, this was “certainly the largest participation in an ARVS general assembly in the last 15 years. A demonstration that sailing in the Algarve is more united than ever».
