João Marques is the PS candidate for the Chamber of Faro, Luís Coelho to the Municipal Assembly

Luís Coelho, former president of the Chamber of Faro, is the head of the list for the Municipal Assembly

João Marques is the candidate chosen by the PS for the Chamber of Faro, in this year's Local Elections. The decision was taken this Tuesday, February 23, by the Political Council, which also approved Luís Coelho, a former mayor from Faro, as head of the list for the Municipal Assembly. 

The names were approved by «large majority, with 95% of the votes», the PS/Faro, in a press release.

For João Marques, who will try to rob the Chamber of Faro, led by Rogério Bacalhau (PSD), for the PS, «it's time to bring together all those who believe that Faro it may have more ambition as a district capital”.

"This is the candidacy where all those who feel this council as theirs and want to contribute to building a more humanistic future with a better quality of life will join," said the candidate.

At yesterday's meeting, the heads of list to the Parish Councils were also voted in favour.

Carlos Pedro Sousa Gordinho was nominated as a candidate for the Parish Union of Faro –Sé / S.Pedro, José António Viegas Leal Jerónimo to the Parish Union of Conceição/Estoi, Eduardo Paulo Viegas de Sousa to the Santa Bárbara de Nexe Parish Council and Fernando Caetano Ferradeira Domingos to the Montenegro Parish Council.

João Marques, candidate for the Chamber, was councilor of the municipality of Faro from 2005 to 2009, in an executive led by José Apolinário. In addition, he was also a councilor, but in opposition, under the terms of José Vitorino (2003-2005) and Macário Correia (2009 to 2012).
