A man suspected of sexually abusing his daughter since she was 8 years old, in the house where they both lived, in the Mexilhoeira Grande area, in Portimão, was arrested by the Judiciary Police.
The abuses began in 2014 and continued inside the house where the suspect, a 53-year-old machine operator, lived with the victim.
The PJ has “strong suspicions” that the man committed the crime of sexual abuse of children and that these happened “repeatedly” for four years, “when the victim was between 8 and 12 years old”.
"The relevant sexual acts were carried out when they were alone, far from the surveillance of the rest of the household", according to the PJ, who made the arrest following an investigation carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of Portimão.
The detainee will be present at the first judicial interrogation to find out what coercive measures will be applied to him.
The inquiry is directed by the Public Prosecutor of the Portimão Section of the DIAP of Faro.
