Aljezur and Irrigants from Mira discussed water supply to small consumers

At issue is the lack of water in the Santa Clara Dam

The City Council of Aljezur and the Parish Council of Odeceixe met with the Mira Beneficiaries Association to learn about the situation of the water supply campaign in 2021. At the meeting, the mayors expressed concern about the water supply of the Dam from Santa Clara to small consumers.

According to the City Council of Aljezur, the meeting, which took place on January 22, "allowed understanding and deepening of the new water supply rules to the area benefiting from the Mira irrigation perimeter, between Odeceixe and Rogil."

The municipality explains that, «due the lack of water in the Santa Clara Dam, some consumers in the parishes of Odeceixe and Rogil have received information regarding the new rules for this campaign».

This situation, according to the Municipality of Aljezur, "is causing some concern to small consumers, who have used this good, over the years, to water small spaces in the vegetable garden and gardens."

«May be at stake between 25 to 30 consumers, under these conditions», adds the council.

However, at this meeting, "was the guarantee of water supply for small consumers who have land in the benefited area and also for animals", and also "may continue to benefit from the water supply, those consumers who have no other alternative for watering'.
