Alcoutim Chamber will support Associação Cumeadas – Association of Forest Owners of Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana with 20 thousand euros, according to a collaboration protocol approved this Wednesday, February 3rd.
Under the terms of the agreement, the municipality supports Cumeadas with 20 thousand euros a year, «invested in preventive forestry actions to reduce the risk of fires, fire surveillance actions and support for combat (first intervention, after-effects and surveillance after the aftermath), as well as awareness-raising actions among the populations and collaboration in the organization of conferences and events», says the Alcoutim Chamber.
Moreover, «Cumeadas has provided important support to forestry producers in Alcoutenejos, especially with regard to monitoring applications for single agricultural applications as a way of making the most of their land».
Based in the village of Pereiro, Cumeadas has as its intervention area the entire municipality of Alcoutim and two parishes in the municipality of Castro Marim (Azinhal and Odeleite).
The association's main mission is to streamline sustainable investment, seeking to streamline development projects. Today, Cumeadas is also a partner in the defense of the forest and its resources and in the management and planning of its territory.
