Long-term unemployment benefits paid from February with retroactive payments

Unemployment benefits that end this month will be automatically extended for another six months, but payment will only be made from February, with retroactive payments, according to the Social Security Institute (ISS).

In a note published on the Social Security website, the ISS begins by reminding that, with the publication of the State Budget for 2021 (OE2021), unemployment benefits that expire during this year will, exceptionally, be extended for another six months.

Thus, the unemployment benefit that ends in January will be extended for six months, being “automatically extended from February”, indicates the institute.
