The Municipality of Silves is doing a collection of the municipality's Intangible Cultural Heritage and is asking for help from residents who "like to remember and know proverbs, rhymes, expressions, riddles and customs, among others."
With the initiative “At the tip of the tongue”, the municipality “intends to promote the preservation of the intangible heritage, through the collection and registration of oral knowledge, namely of expressions used, through the way of speaking, religious celebrations, festivals, dances and pilgrimages , of folk tales and legends, of songs, prayers, proverbs, spiels, riddles and customs».
The registration period runs until the 31st of May, in the Education sector of the Municipality of Silves (telephone 282 440 815 or email [email protected] | [email protected]) or through the parish council location, and the registration form can be downloaded at the Silves Chamber website.
This initiative «comes in the line of action of other projects promoted by the municipality of Silves, through the collection of oral, gastronomic and photographic knowledge», some of which resulted in thematic exhibitions, namely the exhibitions “Mulheres da Nossa Terra”, “Weddings of Nossa Gente” and “From Memories to the Revolution”.
In the particular case of the item “Na Ponta da Lingua” it is intended, in addition to the collection and recording of video, to launch, in the near future, a digital support with all its contents, preserving and extending the municipality's intangible heritage over time.
