PO Algarve 2020 finances 100% removal of asbestos from schools

This intervention will cover 31 schools

The Algarve 2020 Operational Program will finance 100% of the asbestos removal works in 31 schools in the region, announced today the Regional Coordination and Development Commission.

The works are the responsibility of the Municipalities, which are responsible for the intervention, following the transfer of competences.

The Government recently extended the deadline for submitting candidacies until 30 December.

In the Algarve, this intervention should cover 31 schools with a total eligible investment of around 4,3 million euros.

São Brás de Alportel was the first municipality to move into the field, having already had the green light from the Executive Committee of the Regional PO. The other applications are under consideration.

The Algarve 2020 Operational Program, managed by CCDR Algarve, had, on 8 December, a total commitment rate of 87,17 percent and a 40,39 percent execution rate.
