Covid-19: Portuguese have available from today a portal dedicated to vaccination

First batch of vaccine arrived in Portugal today

As of today, the Portuguese have available a portal dedicated to the process of vaccination against Covid-19, which aims to enlighten the population about “all the details” of the campaign that starts on Sunday, announced the Government.

The Ministry of Health said, in a statement, that this page provides all the information about vaccination through “simple and clear language” responding to the main issues that have been raised since the announcement of the arrival of the vaccine in Portugal.

“Is the vaccine effective?”, “is the vaccine safe?”, “what are the different types of vaccine that will be administered in Portugal; "which priority groups?" are some examples of the questions raised and that the Portuguese can now see answered on the portal.

“In addition to answering these more general questions, there is also an area in this nova página – FAQ's – where you can find clarifications on more specific aspects such as the side effects of vaccines or what to do after being vaccinated”, says the Ministry of Health.

Among the main highlights of the page, there is a simulation that the user can fill out to find out when he will be called by the NHS for vaccination.

In addition to this tool, contacts and helplines are also available and should be used by citizens who want to know more about the vaccination process.

A nova página, which had already been announced by the coordinator of the 'task-force' responsible for the preparation of the Vaccination Plan against Covid-19, Francisco Ramos, is available on the Directorate-General for Health's website e on the government portal "Estamos On".

Throughout 2021, the page, which was designed by the Government in close coordination with the 'task-force', the DGS and the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health, will have periodic updates regarding the execution of the vaccination campaign, as well as others relevant news and information provided by 'task-force', referred to in the statement.

The first batch of vaccine against Covid-19 developed by Pfizer-BioNTech arrived this morning in Portugal and includes 9.750 doses for health professionals in university hospital centers in Porto, São João, Coimbra, Lisboa Norte and Lisboa Central.

This batch of 9.750 doses will be reinforced with the anticipation of delivery of another 70.200 doses, which are scheduled to arrive on Monday, increasing the total available for administration until the end of the year to 79.950 vaccines, according to the Ministry of Health.

Between December and the first quarter of 2021, which corresponds to the period of the first phase defined by the 'task-force' responsible for the vaccination plan, Portugal expects to receive 1,2 million vaccines, distributed over three periods: 312.975 doses in December and January, 429 thousand doses in February and 487.500 in March.
