“Lagos Supports” even more the population to adapt “to the changes of the pandemic”

Câmara de Lagos wants to face the «constant transformation» caused by the evolution of Covid-19

The “Lagos Apoia” program, which frames the responses of the Lacobrigense Chamber to the social consequences caused by Covid-19, is being adapted “to the changes of the pandemic” and to the increase in cases and hospitalizations, which has already led the Government to decree the state. of emergency.

According to the Câmara de Lagos, taking into account the “constant transformation” of the lived reality, the package of measures provided for in this initiative has also been updated.

«To this program to support families and the local economy, new actions have been added, such as, more recently, the promotion of the free administration of 2 vaccines to the elderly in the municipality, the delivery of vehicles to Security Forces, Health Center of Lagos and School Groups and the co-participation in the elaboration of the “Algarve Economic Recovery Plan” of AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community», revealed the municipality.

«In the area of economy, the municipality transferred around 11 thousand euros as a contribution to the preparation of AMAL's “Algarve Economic Recovery Plan”, a regional strategy to combat the harmful effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on the Algarve economy. For Christmas 2020, despite all the restrictions, the municipality is preparing some initiatives to encourage purchases in local businesses», added the Chamber.

And if, in the summer months, the measures were adapted «to stimulate the local economy, but also for safety on the beaches», with the arrival of Christmas and winter, «the Lacobrigense municipality is now turning to other fronts, accompanying the epidemiological evolution of the country and the world».

«An example of this is the signing of a protocol that allows the promotion of free administration of the flu vaccine, in community pharmacies, to 2 elderly people in the municipality under the “Local SNS Vaccination Program”, thus reducing the pressure on health services» , framed the Chamber of Lagos.

In the area of Education, «we highlight the acquisition of 400 laptop computers and 150 tablets for students, on loan».

Meanwhile, the Lacobrigense municipality has been contributing to a reinforcement of the response capacity of those who are at the forefront of combating the spread of the virus.

On the Municipality Day, 27 October, «six vehicles were delivered to the Security Forces, the Lagos Health Center and School Groupings, in an investment of around 138 thousand euros. The individual protection equipment delivered (masks, alcohol gel, gloves, protective suits, among others) has so far deserved an investment of 159 thousand euros».

In addition to the Lacobrigense community, among the entities that benefited from this support are the University Hospital Center of the Algarve – Hospital de Portimão, the District Hospital of Lagos – Hospital Center of Barlavento Algarvio, the Health Center of Lagos, the local authorities (National Guard Republican, Public Security Police and Maritime Police), the Institutions (Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagos, CASLAS, Parish of Lagos and NECI), the Lagos Volunteer Fire Brigade, Lagos Em Forma, the Parish Councils, the Prison Establishment of Silves, the CPCJ – Lagos and the Red Cross – Lagos Delegation.

These measures come in addition to others, namely “the distribution of food baskets and basic necessities, medication, meals delivered at home and meals distributed to homeless people”.

This support will continue to be provided to help families, and for such a contact can be made with the local authority through the telephones 282 780 900 and 282 771 700 (9:00-17:00) or by email [email protected] .

«The City Council of Lagos will continue to pay attention to epidemiological developments, adapting its scope to the economic and social context of the municipality and prioritizing support for the population, whose lives were affected as a result of the pandemic crisis. In this sense, it appeals to the civic spirit of all citizens and visitors to comply with all the norms of the General Directorate of Health, keeping the municipality of Lagos safe for all», concluded the municipality.
