Hotel Faro reinvents itself and bets on long-term stays thinking about telecommuting

Hotel Faro wants to reach a new market to offset the tourism crisis

What if the Hotel Faro was your house in the Algarve? The hotel Faro reinvented itself to face the crisis in tourism caused by the pandemic, proposing long-term stays, with all the comforts that a hotel offers, for those who work remotely or for those who work remotely as a way of life.

Sofia Hipólito, Director General of the Hotel Faro, explains that, given the fall in traditional tourism, “we have reinvented ourselves. We realized that traditional tourism is not being sustainable due to all the constraints we have, both in the country and internationally, and we have directed the offer to a potential market segment».

The objective, he continues, “is to meet the fixed costs of the operation to keep the unit open. We don't want to close the door because we are a reference hotel in the city and that brings us an added responsibility».

With the offer “Your House, in Faro», the hotel «offers the possibility, for those who are teleworking, to be able to do it with more and better conditions than if they were at home”, emphasizes Sofia Hipólito.

Breakfast, cleaning service, access to gym, sauna, Turkish bath, coworking space for those who like to have some company or make synergies, or even small details that make a difference, such as foot rest or a 2nd monitor, are some of the
amenities available to customers.

In addition, an investment was made in strengthening the speed and stability of internet access. «At home, usually, there are not all the opportunities that a Hotel has, for those who want to dedicate more to work and also to leisure, to enjoy the best of life. The confinement at home is greater, as a house will not have the dimension of a Hotel like ours, where the issue of health and safety of customers is of utmost importance and treated to the millimeter. At the hotel, the client can work in the room, in a meeting room, in a space of coworking or even with a fabulous view of the Ria Formosa, on our rooftop. You can also receive people, all with the support of our hotel services», adds the general director of the hotel unit.

The hotel has created 15-day and 1-month packages starting at 875 euros. «It's an attractive price to stay at least two weeks in Faro, working with the greatest comfort».

This campaign was designed for both the Portuguese and foreign markets, and in particular for “digital nomads who are increasingly looking for these solutions, since their work does not depend on any specific location. They take the opportunity to get to know the countries, living in one place for a certain time».

For this type of customer, the hotel also prepares cultural and gastronomic experiences and provides contact with informal networking groups.
