Second round of the Portuguese Cup was “fatal” for the three Algarve teams in the competition

Only Farense and Portimonense remain in the competition, which, as they are from the I League, will only enter into competition in the next round

Moncarapachense, Ferreiras and Esperança de Lagos were eliminated from the Portuguese Cup, in matches of the second round of the competition, which were played this weekend.

Today, Sunday, Moncarapachense, playing at home, lost 2-1 to Anadia, in a match between teams in the Portuguese Championship. Ferreiras, who are active in the I District Division, was defeated 1-0 by Amora (Portuguese Championship), with a goal scored in the final minutes of extra time.

Yesterday, Saturday, Esperança de Lagos, from the Portuguese Championship, lost 3-1 to Penafiel, from the II League. The Algarve even scored first, by Zé Maria, in the 11th minute, but they could not hold the result and ended up conceding three goals in the second half, scored by Pedro Soares (24), Gustavo (40) and Júnior Franco (90).

Thus, after Olhanense and Louletano, it was the turn of the three Algarve teams that competed in the second round of the competition to lose.

In the third round, Farense and Portimonense, the Algarve teams that are playing in the XNUMXst League, will play.
