Odiana has a new project to improve the competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises

This is another cooperation initiative with Spain

Associação Odiana has a new project to improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Algarve and the provinces of Cadiz and Huelva (Spain).

The key words of this project, which is called “Interpyme”, are: cooperate, train and internationalize.

This is yet another cooperation initiative with neighboring Spain, whose focus is on agri-food companies, focusing on cooperation, promotion and internationalization work. The basis is to improve the competitiveness of SMEs by facilitating access to new local markets in the Euroregion, always in close collaboration between the business world, the university and the administration.

By the end of the year, Odiana will conduct a survey of food producers and entrepreneurs, in order to understand current needs and possible opportunities. The next steps focus on a series of workshops, trade missions and, finally, an integrated internationalization plan aimed at companies in Baixo Guadiana.

«This project is of great importance, not only because it enhances the business and commercial fabric, but because it can meet some of the needs felt by SMEs, especially in times of pandemic. At the same time, we want to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and increase the opportunity for growth, taking advantage of the experience and success we had with the “Choose our Food” project», attests to the direction of Associação Odiana.

The “Choose our Food” project started a process of valuing and promoting local products and producers co-financed by the CRESC Algarve programme. Interpyme now sets in motion the next step: the internationalization plan.

The project is headed by the Diputación de Cádiz, through the Instituto de Empleo y Desarrollo Socioeconomic y Tecnológico (IEDT) and has a partnership with the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Cádiz; the CEEI Bahía de Cádiz; the University of Cadiz; the Chamber of Commerce of Jerez; the Provincial Council of Huelva; the Municipality of Loulé; and the Nera business association.

Interpyme – Platform for the Internationalization of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Algarve and the Provinces of Cadiz and Huelva – is a cooperation initiative between the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia, Interreg VA Spain- Portugal 2014-2020 Program (POCTEP), and co-financed by FEDER

This project was approved in March 2019, is expected to last until April 2022 and has the support of the Municipalities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.
