Applications for the Healthy Neighborhoods Program are now open

Applications can be submitted by associations, collectivities, non-governmental organizations, civic movements and residents' organizations

Applications are now open for financing projects under the Healthy Neighborhoods Program, which aims to boost partnerships and local interventions to promote health and quality of life in territorial communities.

Applications can be submitted until November 26 by associations, collectives, non-governmental organizations, civic movements and residents' organizations, in collaboration with local authorities and health authorities, under the terms of a public tender procedure, with a budget allocation of 10 million euros (2020-2021).

The objectives of this program are to promote local development initiatives and the empowerment of local communities, providing material and institutional support for the population's self-organization and their participation in the improvement of their living conditions and health determinants, as well as enabling rapid interventions and that create more resilient, inclusive and healthy communities through the transformation of social and human capital, active citizenship and networking.

Other objectives include promoting the design and management involved in the construction and requalification of safer, inclusive and healthier public and/or common spaces, which value human development and environmental sustainability, as well as eliminating barriers or factors of discrimination, contributing to a positive image of the different communities that share the local space and fighting false or stigmatizing information.

As this is an inter-ministerial initiative, the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve) is part of the regional team representing the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion.
