The Municipality of Faro signed, this week, the contract for the award of rehabilitation works of Alameda João de Deus, "with the works to start at all times".

The intervention was awarded to the company Martins Gago & Filhos, Lda., for around 736 euros and has a completion period of 270 days.

«The redevelopment of what is the largest and oldest public garden in the city of Faro, built at the end of the XNUMXth century, aims to improve the pavement and pedestrian circulation routes, replant and replant species in poor condition or lost, improve lighting, build new bathrooms and public service areas and the assembly of urban furniture. resistant and aesthetically appealing», says the Chamber of Faro.

As part of the intervention, «the playground and the geriatric park will also be recreated and refitted, and the current skating rink will also be remodeled, which will take the form of a multifunctional platform».

In addition to Alameda João de Deus, the Chamber of Faro also approved the award of the contract for the requalification of Mata do Liceu, for around 1 million euros, to the company Arquijardim, SA

However, the assignment of the works awaits approval by the Court of Auditors, taking into account that contracts with a value of more than 950 thousand euros are subject to prior inspection by that body.

With these investments, the municipality says that «farenses and visitors will have two excellent green spaces at their disposal, with comfort and safety for leisure activities, physical activity or events».
