The Municipal Assembly of Portimão will have an Extraordinary Electoral Session on the 13th of October, between 16 pm and 00 pm, at the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho, to elect the president of the Algarve Coordination and Development Commission.

This will be the first time that there will be elections to choose the president and one of the two vice-presidents of this body, responsible, among other things, for the management of the European Union Funds, in the Algarve.

Even so, the election is indirect, and the electoral college is composed of mayors elected for the different bodies – Chambers, Municipal Assemblies and Parish Councils. THE single list it is made up of the socialists José Apolinário, candidate for the presidency, and José Pacheco (vice). The other vice president, to be appointed by the Government, will be Elsa Cordeiro (PSD).

It is in this context that the Municipal Assembly of Portimão promotes this Extraordinary Electoral Session, whose only point on the Agenda is “Election of the President of the Algarve Coordination and Development Committee”.
