The support lines of the Ministry of Culture to artistic entities and the adaptation of spaces to Covid-19's contagion prevention measures are open until the end of this week, recalled today the office of Minister Graça Fonseca.

The social support line is also open, in addition to the support granted by Social Security to independent workers in the area of Culture, which is intended for «artists, authors, technicians and other cultural professionals», operated through the budget of the Cultural Promotion Fund .

The statement from the Ministry of Culture is released on the day of a protest action, called last week by the platform Convergência pela Cultura, which argues the lack of responses for the sector. The protest is scheduled for 15:00, next to Palácio da Ajuda, in Lisbon, where the Ministry of Culture is located.

Two of the available support lines were scheduled to open on the 3rd of August, together with the social support line, but it was postponed to the 10th, since «following the presentation of these measures to the representative entities of the sector, on the 29th of July”, an amendment was requested with “impact on the technological development of the forms”.

"Thus, and to allow the integration of data for automatic processing of all requests, the application form for [these lines] will be online on this site only from August 10th", added the explanation of the Ministry of Culture, in the beginning of the month.

The ministry of Graça Fonseca recalls that the line of support for artistic entities, with three million euros in endowment, «aimed at supporting the resumption and maintenance of the activities of the artistic entities and their regular functioning, taking into account the losses resulting from the total suspension or partial activity in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic”.

"Entities that have been considered eligible and not supported under the 2020-2021 sustained support program of the Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes), in any of the artistic areas in competition, may request this support, as well as the beneficiary entities of the program support (quadrennial and biennial) of DGArtes», highlights the statement.

As for the support line for adapting spaces to measures to prevent the contagion of the new coronavirus, it aims to support the adaptation of spaces and cultural facilities to the rules and recommendations of the competent authorities in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, being «eligible persons collectives under private law headquartered in Portugal, which carry out non-profit activities and are owners and/or responsible for the management of cultural spaces and facilities, such as theaters, cinemas and cultural auditoriums».

This line has an endowment of 750 euros and each entity can obtain a maximum of XNUMX euros. As in the social support line, support is “assigned in order of presentation, up to the endowment limit”.

The social support line, the most significant of the three, has a maximum support ceiling of 34,3 million euros, and is «operationalized through the budget of the Cultural Promotion Fund».

The forms are available online till Friday.

The Ministry of Culture recalls that the exceptional support lines of the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA) are also open, for the financing of projects already supported, for production and festivals, whose editions were editions of 2020 have been suspended, postponed or cancelled.

The total amount available is 3,5 million euros and applications can be submitted until March 31 of next year.

The rules applicable to these supports are available on the ICA website.

«The Ministry of Culture emphasizes that it maintains, as always, full availability for dialogue with everyone, continuing to work diligently on a wide range of measures, many of which have already answered questions we have been faced with in recent months and others, which have already been adopted or ongoing, which aim to respond to the challenges that lie ahead and which structurally prepare the future», concludes the office of Graça Fonseca.
