The Lagos Zoo has opened registration for an introductory course in birdwatching and for the Teacher's Open Day 2020.

The bird watching course will take place on the 26th and 27th of September, a weekend, «just before the bird migration festival in Sagres».

"Participants will have a theoretical component, which will address issues such as the identification of different species of birds, the care we should take, where and when we can observe birds, understand the difficulties of the activity and know how to overcome them", according to the Zoo of Lagos.

There will also be a practical component, which consists of “an observation trip to some places of interest in Lagos and its surroundings”.

The cost of the activity is 30 euros for the general public and 20 euros for Zoo friends and includes admission to the Zoo.

The session is bilingual (Portuguese and English)

As for binoculars, the course organizers advise participants to bring their own, "due to the circumstances, although the Zoo is able to lend the group some binoculars and a telescope."

On September 5th, the doors of this park open for teachers in the region, on the Open Day for Teachers.

“We want to invite teachers to come and experience the new 2020/2021 educational program, a program adapted this year in face-to-face and digital mode”, describes Lagos Zoo.

Admission is free 'with proof. Visits take place at the following time: 10:00-12:30 (Pre-school and 1st cycle); 14:00-15:30 (2nd cycle); 15:45 pm – 18:30 pm (3rd cycle and Secondary).

In both cases, activities are limited to a maximum of 20 participants.
