Cacela will pay homage to Nossa Senhora da Assunção, this Saturday, the 15th, at 19:30 pm, with a solemn mass in the open air, at Largo Manuel Cabanas, in Vila Nova de Cacela and the pilgrimage of the image of the patron saint, in a car, through the streets of the parish .
This year, instead of the traditional procession, which will not take place due to the pandemic, “the pilgrimage of the image of the patron saint, in a vehicle, through the streets of the village of Cacela Velha and the parish of Vila Nova de Cacela will be promoted, allowing everyone to watch to its passage, even from home», according to the Town Council of Vila Real de Santo António.
This was the way found by the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, which «did not want to stop carrying out the celebrations in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption, albeit in special ways, in order to guarantee safety conditions», even with the necessary restrictions .
The departure of the image of the church of Cacela Velha is scheduled for 18:00 pm, and it is expected to arrive at 19:30 pm at Largo Manuel Cabanas, in the center of Vila Nova de Cacela, where «the outdoor mass will take place with properly marked places. to guarantee social distance between the public».
«Participation in the open-air ceremony is subject to the number of seats available, and the use of a mask is mandatory», warns the municipality.
The celebrations are organized by the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Assunção and have the support of the Municipality of VRSA, Parish Councils of VRSA and Vila Nova de Cacela, Radio Guadiana and Rujopa.
