The Câmara de Lagos will implement a Wi-Fi network, with free internet access, in the municipality.

The local authority is, moreover, running a tender "for the elaboration of the project for the implementation of the Wi-Fi network in the municipality's area".

“The aim is to make wireless internet access more accessible and free, adding an additional attraction to the main urban areas of the county”, explains the Chamber, in a press release.

The historic center, the green ring park and the garden next to the Júlio Dantas school (Santo Amaro area) are the most popular places in the city. In addition to the village of Luz, the villages of Espiche and Almádena (in the parish of Luz), in Bensafrim, Barão de São João and Odiáxere, this network is planned to be installed in ten more locations.

The base value of the procedure is 18.500 euros and the project will be executed within 180 days.

This is, for the municipality, an «investment thinking of the times we live in, in which distance communications through the internet are increasingly a strategic factor of competitiveness and social interaction».
