Concerts, from genres as different as rock, fado or popular music, and cinema, with films such as “Parasitas” or “Cinema Paraíso”. Lagos created a drive-in at the Rossio da Trindade Games Field, which will be open from 1st August to 5th September, at 21 pm. Admission is always free.
In order to resume cultural activity, while maintaining security measures, the City of Lagos decided to rescue "the drive in concept that was so successful in the 50s and 60s".
The summer in Lacobrigense will gain «a new dimension with concerts by local artists and bands whose genres include Rock, Pop, Fado, Popular Music, but also with open-air cinema sessions.
The idea is that the public can enjoy the shows and movies in the comfort and safety of their cars.
The “Drive in Lagos” is free and will take place at the Rossio da Trindade Games Field between August 1st and September 5th, at 21 pm, with mandatory prior registration.
To support Lacobrigense talent, «the concert program will have as protagonists bands and artists connected to Lagos who will liven up Saturday nights (two bands/artists per Saturday) through genres that appeal to all tastes».
All these artists took part in the “Lagos em casa com Música” initiative by publishing music videos and motivational messages on the municipality's Facebook page throughout the pandemic months.
On Wednesday's film sessions, there will be suggestions for all ages, from the film “Parasitas”, to the classic “Cinema Paraíso” by Giuseppe Tornatore, in a tribute to conductor Ennio Morricone, and to João Maia's success “Variações .
Children and young people will also not be forgotten with the exhibition of blockbusters for these age groups, such as “Marnie and the Friends” and “The Hunger Games: The Hunger Games”.
The space chosen for this cultural activity was the Rossio da Trindade Games Field (former Trindade football field), which was recovered for its realization and has the capacity to house around 100 light vehicles. On site, it will also be available street vendors of food and drink and toilets.
Ensuring the safety of everyone, the municipality will have some security measures implemented: the entrance and exit will have their own separate circuits, being carried out in accordance with the guidelines of assistants in the enclosure, the vehicles will have a distance of 2 meters (through the signage and physical distance marking), spectators must remain inside the vehicles, and they are only allowed to leave to use the restrooms.
Despite being free of charge, given the capacity of the venue, the municipality will make available weekly in its electronic media a simple online form for registering for the concerts or film sessions of your choice.
