Blue and Accessible Beach flags were hoisted in Faro

Faro It once again hoisted blue flags and Accessible Beach flags and, even in the time of Covid-19, there are «all the conditions for people to be on the beach in safety and to enjoy it with family and friends, without excesses».

The guarantee, by way of invitation, is given to the Sul Informação by Rogério cod, president of the Chamber of Faro, which hosted the official ceremony of raising the Blue Flag in all bathing areas of the county and Accessible Beach on Ilha de Faro, which took place today, Thursday.

The session was attended by representatives of various entities, from the Maritime Authority to the ARS Algarve, passing by organizations linked to the area of the environment, but also with the usual curious people.

A scenario similar to other years, were it not for the protective masks worn by everyone who joined the ceremony, even the curious in bathing suits.

Signs of the times which, in this case, are a good sign for Rogério Bacalhau.

«As long as people comply with the rules of the General Directorate of Health, I think they can have all the confidence to come to the beach. We are all alert and creating the necessary security conditions», he assured.

on the beach of Faro, the only one in the county accessible on foot or by car, the City Council defined corridors “so that people can move in safety”.

«We have a very long beach. Obviously, this area near the bridge is the one with the highest traffic, because people arrive by car or bus and stay here. But we have two kilometers of beach served by road and much more beyond that», he illustrated.

“There is enough space for everyone to come to the beach and be safe, keeping physical spacing. We have all the conditions for people to come here», he told the Sul Informação the Farense aedile.

However, there is “a special care” that those who use the municipality's beaches must have. “People should be more careful when accessing bars, wear a mask, avoid physical contact and take care to take the products with them and protect themselves to consume them”.

To help keep swimmers safe, there is new signage, triangular flags that can be green, yellow or red and indicate the beach's capacity.

Em Faro, where all the beaches can accommodate more than 1500 bathers and where there is the bathing area with the greatest carrying capacity, the Ilha de Faro, which can host 12.600 bathers at the same time, there are no problems.

«Since the beginning of the bathing season, the green flag has been raised, because we have not reached even a third of the occupation of the beach», revealed Rogério Bacalhau to our newspaper.

The blue flags, on the other hand, started flying in all the bathing areas of the county.

“It's not the first year that this has happened. We have been making a great effort to create the best conditions on our beaches. We have 17 kilometers of spectacular beaches, in Deserta, in Ilha da Culatra, but also here, in Praia de Faro», explained to the Sul Informação the mayor of Faro.

This is also due to the «strong investment» made by the municipality in the municipality's bathing areas. on the beach of Faro “there are new foot washes and the bathrooms have been requalified”.

“But we have also been working with associations, in Culatra and in Farol, to create conditions of comfort for people, namely in terms of bathrooms and showers», concluded Rogério Bacalhau.
