Loulé Secondary School hosts the Algarve's first Medical Electronics Technician course

To respond to the growing importance of the health sector in the county

Students at Loulé Secondary School will have the opportunity to pursue a new professional career, in the next academic year, with the opening of the training course for Medical Electronics Technicians.

Following a challenge launched by the City Council, the Secondary School of Loulé, aware of the «growing importance that the health sector has been assuming in the socio-economic development of the municipality and the region», proposed to the Ministry of Education the opening of a course, to Medical Electronics Technicians, within the scope of professional education. The course has already been approved.

The Câmara de Loulé expresses its «rejoicing», since «from the very beginning it has cherished the project that follows on from all the intensive work carried out in recent years, in order to attract professionals specialized in the various aspects of health to the Algarve and thus improve the services and offer existing in the region».

The training of future Medical Electronics Technicians «aims to respond not only to the needs felt by those responsible for public and private health equipment, but also by other sectors of economic activity, industry or services, which increasingly use electronics and automation components», stresses the municipality in a press release.

This course debuts in Loulé, being the first of its kind to be launched in the Algarve, a region that, having no industrial tradition, can hardly offer its young secondary-level professional qualifications that are not directly related to the area of tourism.

The City Council emphasizes that, for the young people who come to attend the course, it expects «great challenges and a lot of work, as this is a very demanding course in the field of mathematics and logical thinking, in the manual skills inherent in the handling of circuits and microcontrollers and also in the intimate relationship that it establishes between the health area and electronic engineering».
