Another drug trafficker was arrested after drug transshipment on the bank of the Guadiana in VRSA

A second dealer managed to escape, but the 21 kilos of hash was seized

A man was arrested yesterday for drug trafficking in Vila Real de Santo António, on the bank of the Guadiana, after having received packages containing 21 kilos of hashish from the crew of a boat coming from the Spanish bank of the river. This is the fourth arrest made by the GNR's Coastal Control Unit (UCC) under very similar conditions and in the same area since the beginning of the month.

This time, the sub-detachment of the Vilarealense Coastal Control detected "a pleasure boat, which sailed to the Portuguese bank and will have passed two volumes to two individuals who were on land".

After the transaction, the boat returned to Spain. On the other hand, the two men, upon realizing the presence of the UCC soldiers, abandoned the drug, hiding it in the vegetation.

However, some time later, they returned to recover the drug, having been approached by authorities. They tried to escape, but one of them, aged 32, was caught and detained.

The drug found and seized represents, according to the GNR, a total of 42 thousand daily doses, which after sale could yield an estimated value that exceeds 120 thousand euros.

In addition to the drug, 758 euros were seized from the drug dealer.

The detainee will be present at the Court today.

This is the third time that the VRSA UCC has managed to catch traffickers “after detecting the transshipment of volumes from suspicious vessels, coming from Spain and which touch the Portuguese bank of the River Guadiana”. On June 5, two men were arrested with a kilo of hashish and 32 grams of cocaine. On the 8th, a third drug dealer was arrested, who had with him 2,3 kilos of cannabis.
