Covid-19: BE wants traffic rules on the busiest streets in Portimão

BE's proposal was one of five that were approved at AM in Portimão yesterday

The Municipal Assembly of Portimão approved a recommendation by the Left Block for the regulation of circulation in the busiest streets in the county, to mitigate the risk of contagion from Covid-19.

This was one of the five motions approved yesterday, the 29th, at the 2nd ordinary session of AM in Portimão, all of them from the opposition parties: BE (two), PSD, CDU and Servir Portimão (one motion each).

In the case of the recommendation “Pedestrian Circulation (Covid-19)”, presented by the Blocistas, it is linked to the perception of this party that there is a “need to regulate the summer spaces, where thousands of people are concentrated, circulating in clusters without the physical distance recommended by the authorities, crossing each other, along these pedestrian paths».

«The intended routes could be, for example, Rua do Comércio, the riverside area of ​​Portimão, the riverside area of ​​Marina de Portimão, the jetty, the walkway at Praia da Rocha, Avenida Tomás Cabreira, the riverside area of ​​Alvor, Rua Dr. Frederico Ramos Mendes and Rua Marquês de Pombal, in Alvor, among others», reads the motion that was approved.

The BE's recommendation is to regulate "roads with the most agglomerations of people, with horizontal signage already in use on the Alvor footbridge, that is, to regulate the physical distance recommended by the authorities and circulation to the right, to avoid contagion".

At the same meeting, other motions were approved, namely two votes of praise, one from BE «to all professionals in the health, education, social sector, security forces, civil protection, companies that provide basic services, companies which remained closed, to the firefighters and to the entire universe of the municipality and to Portimão» and another from Servir Portimão “For the exemplary commitment and sacrifice of all professionals in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic”.

The CDU was approved the motion “Improvement of access to the Municipal Kennel of Portimão”. proposal related to mobility presented by the PSD.
