For this reason, the association “calls for strict compliance with the rules and procedures that are defined, before, during or after the critical period of rural fires (which runs from 1st July to 30th September, which may be extended).
This fire, which has since been extinguished, mobilized more than 800 workers from 94 entities.
Despite the rapid action, which prevented a fire of even greater proportions and damage, the fire consumed 2200 hectares.
“A great environmental heritage has been lost, but thanks to teamwork, collaboration and mutual help, there is no record of any victims”, concludes the press release.
