President and vice president of Lagoa visited animal protection institutions

The mayors were at the premises of the “Jardim de Ariel” and the “Carvoeiro Cat Charity”

Luís Encarnação, mayor of Lagoa, and Anabela Simão, vice president of the municipality, visited two animal protection institutions this Wednesday morning, May 27th.

The mayors were at the facilities of Aryel – Association for Animal Protection of Lagoa and the “Carvoeiro Cat Charity”.

The main objectives of the visit were to better understand the working conditions of these animal support structures and check on the spot the difficulties they face, particularly at this stage of exceptional experience of public space, and define ways to strengthen support for institutions. .

“Both associations devote a large part of their effort to identifying colonies of stray animals, mostly cats, to their collection and sterilization. At the same time that these animals receive care, the hope is also nurtured that they will deserve the attention of someone who can adopt them”, says Câmara de Lagoa.

“The opportunity was therefore used to reinforce the public appeal for the adoption of these animals. The fact that stray animals are generally more resistant to disease is one of several advantages that make them good choices for companion animals”.

However, there are already close to 300 cats collected by the CCC and by Aryel – Association for Animal Protection of Lagoa. Luís Encarnação and Anabela Simão declared their recognition for the work of these institutions.

All people interested in knowing and adopting one of these animals should contact the referenced institutions directly.

For this, online communication channels are available, such as e-mail addresses: [email protected]; [email protected] or the respective Facebook profiles “Aryel's garden”; or "Charity Cat Charity".
