Loulé celebrates Espiga Day with online program

In addition to the presentation of public works, there will be culture and the possibility of talking to the city council executive

The Day of the Municipality of Loulé is marked this Thursday, 21st of May (the traditional Day of the Spike), and, this year, the programming will be online. In addition to the presentation of public works, there will be a lot of culture and the possibility of talking to the city's executive. 

On the eve of the municipal holiday, this Wednesday, May 20, the online programming that Cineteatro Louletano has promoted during this period of confinement, through its Facebook, presents two absolute premieres.

At 18:30 pm, there is an online concert with Adriano Alves (“Dinga”), bassist in the fado singer Mariza's band, and at night, at 22:00 pm, in a joint initiative of the Câmara de Loulé, through the Cineteatro and Loulé Film Office, and the association Plutão In the summer, an exhibition of short films Young South Film Festival – Couch Editions is released, an initiative that aims to make known a new generation of filmmakers.

On the Municipality Day, 21 May, the raising of the Flag ceremony takes place at 9:00 am, a moment that this year gains even greater symbolism and which is broadcast online, through the Municipality's Facebook. It is also through this virtual space that, at 9:30 am, the video “Loulé does not stop” will be shown.

The main works in progress and the county's public investments are presented through images.

From 10:00 am, citizens will have the opportunity to speak directly with President Vítor Aleixo and with members of the executive, ask questions or simply leave suggestions on any matter that concerns the municipality. It is necessary to pre-register online, on the same day, through this link.

During the day, the Municipality will also remember, through short videos, on the Municipality's Facebook, moments that have marked the municipal activity in recent times.

At 14:00 pm, the video of the ceremony to celebrate the inter-administrative contract for the construction of the Loulé Health Buildings will be shown, chaired by the Assistant Secretary of State and Health Jamila Madeira, while at 16:30 pm, the inaugural moment of BAL – Base will be remembered of Quarteira Logistics Support, which took place on the 29th of February, with the presence of António Costa.

The attention is again turned to the Cineteatro Louletano, with two more live premieres, through this showroom's Facebook: at 18:30 pm, with the video performance carried out by the association Mákina de Cena, and at 22:30 pm, with the online concert by Dutch musician based in Boliqueime Ray van Dijvenbode.

Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé, underlines that, «despite this exceptional moment, in which the world is trying to recover from a long and difficult confinement, the Chamber could not fail to mark this date of utmost importance for the entire council. , conveying a word of hope for the future and development of the territory».

Among the celebrations for the Day of the Municipality of Loulé, the Espiga Festival is also worth mentioning, an inseparable element of this ephemeris. Although the emblematic ethnographic parade and all the activities carried out in Salir during these three days were canceled due to the pandemic, the Espiga traditions of this mountain parish are very much alive in this program.

Thus, in representation of all the participants of the annual parade, two cars, decorated and with elements that symbolize the local agricultural activity, roam the streets of the parish, during the morning, taking a little of the spirit of this party to the door of the house. of the Salirenses.

From 16:30 pm, on the Facebook page of the Parish Council of Salir, the concerts of some of the names who performed on stage at the Festa da Espiga will be played: Filipa Nobre, André Catarino, Valentim Filipe, Nuno Martins, Diogo Ramos and Gonçalo Tardão.
