Covidalgarve went to Cerro do Bruxo and Horta da Areia to raise awareness of the pandemic

Project will continue in the coming weeks

The Covidalgarve project, developed by students of the Integrated Masters in Medicine at the University of Algarve, with the support of the Chamber of Faro, visited the Cerro do Bruxo area and the emergency neighborhood of Horta da Areia, to sensitize «the most vulnerable population to the care to be taken during these times of pandemic».

The team responsible for this project began by visiting, on April 30th, the Cerro do Bruxo area, and on Wednesday, May 6th, the emergency neighborhood Horta da Areia, «having sensitized the families residing there about issues as important as proceeding with the correct washing and disinfection of hands and reinforcing the explanation of the various measures of respiratory label to be used", says the Chamber of Faro.

In these actions, were also distributed to families, previously indicated by the local authority, hand sanitizer gel, fruit baskets previously raised, information on proper hand washing and even coloring drawings for children.

The Chamber of Faro explains that “this project is the result of the commitment of a group of 15 students from the 5th year of the UAlg Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine, who, given the pandemic situation we are experiencing, proposed to the Municipality of Faro the application of this project as a way to reach the most vulnerable fringes of the municipality's population».

The local authority emphasizes that it became associated «promptly to this project and provided logistical support to carry it out, through the provision of a vehicle and a disinfectant product».

In the coming weeks, actions will continue in other communities in the county.
