Docapesca contributes to carrying out Covid-19 diagnostic tests for fishermen

Strengthen working and safety conditions for fishing professionals

Docapesca – Portos e Lotas SA will ensure part of the national co-payment of the applications presented by organizations in the fishing sector for the performance of Covid-19 diagnostic tests, the company announced today. 
  
This measure to protect public health is aimed at “strengthening the working and safety conditions of professionals in the fishing sector, who continue to operate on a daily basis in the fishing ports under the company's management”.

During the period of state of emergency, Docapesca stresses that it has maintained «its role in the fresh fish supply chain, fulfilling its public service mission, helping to guarantee food supply to the Portuguese. contingency, as well as a vast set of security measures in order to guarantee the regular functioning of its fishing ports and auctions, which will remain in force”.

Currently, within the scope of the public service for the first sale of fresh fish, 22 auctions and 37 reception and transfer stations are in operation, with daily circulation of workers, shipowners and traders.

Docapesca is a company in the business sector of the State, supervised by the Ministry of the Sea, which is in charge of the first sale service of fresh fish in Mainland Portugal and performs the functions of port authority in the fishing and recreational ports under its jurisdiction .
