The District Civil Protection Commission (CDPC) of Faro met today in an extraordinary way, via Video Teleconference (VTC), to analyze the declaration of the state of calamity, which begins this Monday, as well as the strategy of lifting containment measures in the context of combating the disease pandemic Covid -19.

At that meeting, the members of the District Commission, chaired by António Manuel Pina, also president of the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL), deliberated «the maintenance of the measures and actions of strategic coordination, in terms of prevention, preparation and response, implemented at the level municipal and district, in the face of the new coronavirus pandemic”.

Another resolution envisages "maintaining, via VTC, the Subcommittee under Covid-19, set up on March 14", as a "structure responsible for collecting and processing information on the ongoing epidemic outbreak, chaired by the Health Delegate Regional, ensuring permanent monitoring of the situation».

On the other hand, they also resolved to continue promoting the meetings of the District Civil Protection Commission, via VTC, "ordinarily, every Wednesday, at 14:30 pm, and extraordinarily, whenever necessary, while the Calamity Situation remains in force."

They will also continue to «hold press conferences, in person, at the premises of the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), where the District Command Post is installed, together with the District Operational Commander of ANEPC, Regional Health Delegate and President of the Algarve Regional Health Administration”, but now with a “frequency to be defined by the president of the CDPC”.

Another deliberation is to continue to “make aware of the assessment carried out by the CDPC to the Municipal Civil Protection Authorities in the region”.
