New death by Covid-19 in Algarve was by Canadian from Albufeira [with interactive map]

Sul Informação provides a map of the distribution of cases in the Algarve

The fifth fatal victim by Covid-19 in the Algarve was the 60-year-old Canadian who was on an extended vacation in Albufeira and it was the first confirmed infected in this county, I learned the Sul Informação from an official source.

The man had been admitted to intensive care at the Hospital of Faro, always with a reserved prognosis. He even ended up dying.

Yesterday ARS do Algarve had already revealed that the fourth fatality in the Algarve she was a woman who didn't live in the Algarve, but in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo. The lady was admitted to the hospital in Portimão when she died.

However, Loulé is, at the moment, the municipality in the Algarve with the most cases of Covid-19, after confirmation that there are 21 users of the nursing home of Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Boliqueime infected with the new coronavirus, which raised to (at least) 47 the number of cases in this municipality.

Even so, these cases, despite being confirmed by the mayor of Loulé, are not accounted for in today's epidemiological bulletin from the General Directorate of Health.

On the other hand, there are today many more cases reported in the demographic characterization (by municipality) of the DGS report, in addition to the three more cases that the same document attributes to the Algarve, compared to yesterday – a rise from 179 to 182 infected by Covid- 19 in the Algarve.

In today's update, the demographic characterization reports four more cases in VRSA, three more in Silves and Tavira, two more in Faro and one more in Albufeira.

In relation to Vila Real de Santo António, a source from the Municipal Council's communication office told our newspaper that "the new cases are all of people in the family of the employee of the maintenance of a nursing home, whose case has already been reported for days" . In fact, added the same source, the analyzes made to users and other employees of that institution "all turned out negative".

In total, according to the numbers calculated by the Sul Informação until 13:00 this Saturday, there are 23 confirmed cases in Portimão, which has already registered one death and one person recovered, 4 cases and 2 deaths in Lagoa, 39 cases and 2 deaths in Albufeira.

The other counties where there are confirmed cases are: Silves (10 cases), Loulé (47), Faro (36), São Brás de Alportel (1), Olhão (7), Castro Marim (2) and Vila Real de Santo António (15).

So far, and according to what was found, there are no confirmed cases in the municipalities of Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Monchique and Alcoutim.

There may be a discrepancy between the total number of cases and those that are, on the map, distributed by municipality, since the information disclosed by the DGS, presented by municipality, refers to the total number of clinical notifications in the SINAVE system, corresponding to 79% of confirmed cases'.
