Algarve municipalities give another 600 euros to buy fans

About two weeks ago, AMAL signed a protocol with the ABC for the acquisition of 30 invasive ventilators

AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community transferred over 600 thousand euros to the Academic Center for Research and Biomedical Training of the Algarve (ABC) for the purchase of fans and other material to combat Covid-19.

Like the Sul Informação already reported, there were problems in the acquisition, by AMAL, of the 30 fans planned.

According to President António Miguel Pina, the equipment, which would cost 1,3 million euros, "were ordered, but ended up not being supplied to us due to the fact that the market is very competitive."

Thus, the Algarve's municipalities are going to buy other fans that cost an additional 600 euros.

The decision was taken at the last meeting of the Intermunicipal Council, which took place on April 3rd. The amount will also allow for the acquisition of more material, to be distributed by the municipalities, to meet the needs of health centers, fire brigades, IPSS and law enforcement agents.

About two weeks ago, AMAL signed a protocol with the ABC for the acquisition of 30 invasive ventilators, thermometers and personal protection material, examples of which are masks, gloves and suits, intended for hospitals in the Region.

AMAL seeks, therefore, to help respond to the exceptional situation we are experiencing, with the proliferation of registered cases of COVID-19 contagion, which requires the application of extraordinary and urgent measures.

The mayors appeal, once again, to the entire population of the Algarve to continue to adopt, in their habits and behavior, the recommendations of the General Directorate of Health.
