José Apolinário assumed the role of regional coordinator of the fight against Covid-19 today

Secretary of State was appointed by Prime Minister António Costa

José Apolinário, Secretary of State for Fisheries, took over this Wednesday, April 8, the regional coordinator functions combating Covid-19 in the Algarve, during the State of Emergency, a position for which he was appointed by the prime minister.

José Apolinário «has installed himself today in the Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, from where he promotes the horizontal coordination of regional entities, agencies and services of the direct and indirect administration of the State in combat to the Covid-19 pandemic," explains the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro.

The Secretary of State will also be responsible for "articulation and dialogue with local authorities and the various entities of the social and economic sector."

On today's agenda, during the morning he participated in a situation briefing at the District Command Post with the liaison officers of the Operational Coordination Center and, in the afternoon, he will hold the first meeting by videoconference with the District Civil Protection Commission.

Later this afternoon, José Apolinário goes to the drive-thru from the Algarve State for a working meeting with Nuno Marques, president of the ABC – Algarve Biomedical Center.
