Directors and teachers will be trained in digital education

3rd period resumes this Tuesday, April 14th

The Directorate-General for Education will launch training on teaching through digital media aimed at school directors and teachers, to support schools in the development of distance learning, the tutelage announced today.

The first edition of Training for Digital and Network Teaching, developed in collaboration with Universidade Aberta, starts this Wednesday, 15th of Abil, and lasts about three weeks, until 5th of May.

In a statement, the tutelage explained that this training, aimed at school directors and extended to two more teachers per institution, will allow "to develop the best strategies for monitoring students, starting with principals and teams" in the context of distance education that will mark , for most students and teachers, the entire third period.

Classes resume on Tuesday, but not in person, similar to what happened during the last two weeks of second-period.

The transition and adaptation to distance learning represented a challenge for many teachers and the objective of the initiative announced today by the Ministry of Education is "to deepen the best teaching and learning methodologies inherent to distance education"

The asynchronous training, in which around 750 groups of schools are already enrolled, has a total of 25 hours and will cover topics such as online education and communication, virtual teaching methods, online digital platforms and technologies, and online learning and assessment activities.

Students from the 1st to the 10th year of schooling will not return to schools until the end of the school year and the in-person classes for students from the 11th and 12th grade are, for now, suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
