110 kilos of cockles (cerastoderma edules) and 20 dog clams (Polititapes Aureus) were seized in the Ria Formosa, announced this Friday, April 24 to Regional Directorate for the Conservation of Nature and Forests of the Algarve.

The bivalves, being alive, were returned to the natural environment. This was an operation aimed at catching illegal arts.

Thus, in addition to bivalves, four belt hauls and a harrier were learned, which are used to catch cockles and clams.

The scavengers, upon detecting the presence of the guards, fled and it was not possible to identify them.
