PSD wants "immediate measures to prevent and isolate" Covid-19 patients in the Algarve

Rui Cristina demands measures from the Government

Rui Cristina, deputy of the PSD to the Assembly of the Republic elected by the Algarve, defended that the Algarve “needs immediate measures to prevent and isolate” infected patients with a new coronavirus (Covid-19).

According to the Algarve Parliamentarian, over the weekend, «they were admitted to the Emergency Observation Service of the Hospital de Faro about 50 patients, in a confined and unventilated room, whose capacity should not exceed 20 beds».

This after Paulo Morgado, president of the Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve, told the Sul Informação that the Hospital of Faro was prepared to be reference in the validation of the new coronavirus. On Monday, the secretary of State for Health, the Algarve Jamila Madeira, came to say that the Algarve He's prepared to face an outbreak of Covid-19.

Rui Cristina even stated that "he obtained confirmation from the persons responsible for the service of the deficient working conditions of the professionals and the risk for them and for users".

"It is intolerable that there are no immediate measures and in accordance with the situation, because a hospital that is already in the red level of hospital contingency is certainly not capable of an adequate response", he believes.

"It is not with untruths on the part of the Government regarding the conditions existing in public health units in the Algarve that it will prevent, confirm and isolate cases of patients infected with the new coronavirus," he added.

The PSD deputy also wants guarantees that the «Regional Health Laboratory already has kits in sufficient numbers to carry out the analysis and against analysis of those infected by the coronavirus».

Here, too, statements made to the Sul Informação by Paulo Morgado, who admitted that the Algarve, but also «almost all countries», is facing a problem, which is waiting for more kits diagnostics, due to difficulties in the pharmaceutical industry, because «at this moment there is a great demand in the market and it is not very easy for them to supply us with a large quantity».

Rui Cristina also questions "how the recommendation for the isolation of patients will be fulfilled, when there are only four rooms destined for this, one of which is in pediatrics and two of them are already occupied by cases of pneumonia."
