Portimão cancels Motornautics F1 and allocates 350 thousand euros that it was going to spend on the purchase of fans

Cancellation follows measures already adopted by the municipality

The municipality of Portimão canceled the Formula 1 Motorboat Grand Prix, donating the 350 thousand euros it would spend in this race to the purchase of hospital fans, reports the newspaper Observador.

The F1H2o GP, a traditional stage on the world circuit of the sport, would take place in the riverside area of Portimão, between the 8th and 10th of May.

“This public health measure reinforces the strategy adopted by the municipal authorities [of Portimão] to effectively combat the pandemic, canceling all types of social, cultural and sporting events, while contributing to the reinforcement of the equipment applied to the treatment of patients in the local hospital unit», explains the president of the Chamber Isilda Gomes, cited by the Observer.
