CHUA's new administration will be "solution that will serve users well"

"We won't waste a second, a minute, an hour to wait for someone to follow in a kind of sebastianism in solving problems"

The composition of the new Board of Directors of the Hospital and University Center of the Algarve (CHUA) is not yet known, but Jamila Madeira, Assistant Secretary of State and Health, guaranteed this Monday, March 2, that it will be a «solution that it will serve users well».

The term of Ana Paula Gonçalves finished at the end of last year. Currently, the administration remains in office, while there is no decision by the tutelage regarding the renewal or replacement of the team.

At this time, said Jamila Madeira, who was meeting with the CHUA administration this morning, "all decisions can be taken"

«The mandates have a beginning and an end and, in this framework, the decision is up to the minister. One thing is important to say: this Board of Directors and these professionals have given their full commitment», he considered, in statements to journalists.

“Whether that means continuity or not is not something we are debating today. Our commitment is for the problems to be resolved,” he added.

O Correio da Manhã reported, last week, that the decision had already been taken, with the new CA president being someone from outside the Algarve.

Confronted with this, Jamila Madeira neither confirmed nor denied, saying that "in due time" the new Board of Directors will be known.

Now, the Assistant Secretary of State and Health also left a strong message: «we will not waste a second, a minute, an hour to wait for someone to follow in a kind of sebastianism in solving problems'.

On this visit, Jamila Madeira also spoke about the coronavirus situation and Central Hospital of the Algarve.
