Government launches credit line of 60 million euros for tourism micro-enterprises

Minister: "lack of liquidity will be the biggest problem" for companies

The Government announced today the launch of a credit line worth 60 million euros for micro-enterprises in the tourism sector, considered to be one of the most affected by the new coronavirus.

Pedro Siza Vieira, Deputy Minister of Economy, in a press conference at dawn, at the end of the Council of Ministers, admitted that "lack of liquidity will be the biggest problem" for companies, who need "access to funding for later be able to repay'.

"What we can do is put money in the companies' cash in order to preserve their productive capacity," explained the minister.

In the Algarve, the Covid-19 outbreak has caused reservations to be canceled in hotels, tourist developments and even in local accommodation, travel and complementary services, especially for Easter holidays, but also for the summer.
