Covid-19: Peak of pandemic in Portugal will only arrive in May, predicts DGS

Graça Freitas emphasizes that the peak can last for days or weeks

Portugal may reach the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic only in May, predicted today the director-general of Health, stating that Portugal will have slowed down the rate of ascent of the epidemic curve.

In a press conference at the Ministry of Health, Graça Freitas said that everything indicates that the most intense period of the pandemic "will be postponed until later", reaching a peak "never before, probably in the month of May".

"These are predictions, it's worth what it counts," he said, adding that, according to the mathematicians who analyze the data at the service of health authorities, the peak of the pandemic in Portugal "will not be an instantaneous moment in time", but it could prolong up for days or weeks.
