Man who stabbed another in Parchal's pastry shop held by the PJ

Suspect was placed in preventive detention

A 44-year-old man, suspected of being the author of an attempted murder that took place on January 1st, in a bakery in Parchal (Lagoa), has now been detained by the Judiciary Police's DIC of Portimão.

According to the PJ, the man, a cleaner, was arrested because of "strong suspicions of having committed a crime of murder in the attempted form and possession of a prohibited weapon."

According to Correio da Manhã, the crime took place around 20:30 on the 1st, when the suspect stabbed another man, around 30 years old, in the head and back. The victim was forced to receive assistance at the hospital.

The PJ adds, in a statement sent to newsrooms, that the bakery where the crime took place was a «place frequented by the aggressor and victim», although there was «no relationship of friendship or affinity» between the two men.

"The investigation carried out allowed the collection of relevant evidential evidence, as well as the arrest of the alleged author", adds the Judiciary.

The detainee was already present at the first interrogation in the Judicial Court of Portimão, having been in preventive detention.
