With the aim of presenting the participants of yet another Pedestrian Walk with mountain traditions, the Association of Friends of Cortelha will recreate the slaughter of the pig, with a reenactment of the usual tasks that are performed on this day by mountain men and women.

After a year of raising and feeding their pigs, the cold has arrived and in order to be able to extract sustenance for another year, the inhabitants of the interior of the municipality of Loulé carry out the usual pig slaughters in their homes, which more they are not days of hard work, but also days of socializing between family and friends.

On this tour, participants will be able to appreciate the landscapes that Serra do Caldeirão offers at this time of year, with a route of approximately 11 kilometers and with the departure at 9:30 am, but it is necessary to confirm your registration from 8:30 am.

Along the way, participants will be able to observe some of the routines that until recently were part of the daily life of the people of the Algarve mountains.

At the end, they will all be gifted with a small meal of delicacies associated with the “Slaughter of the Pig”.
