Monchique (the «Algarve Garden») is once again the stage for another Festival das Camélias, this time on the 15th and 16th of February, at Largo dos Chorões.
«Since Camellia is a natural, cultural and heritage icon of the county, it didn't make sense that there wasn't a moment in its homage and contemplation. After six years, there is certainty and conviction that Monchique is already a reference and that it brings together the distinction of “Jardim do Algarve” and the festival was and is (more) a driver of this attribute», says the municipality.
In previous editions, camellia brought together arts and crafts. There were traveling performances, theatre, circus, book presentations, concerts and exhibitions.
This year, the Festival once again presents itself in a different dynamic, this time at Largo dos Chorões. According to Monchique City Council, there will be street entertainment, performances, theater, handicrafts, sweets and, of course, the camellia exhibition.
The Camélias Route tour will also return, on the 16th. The meeting point is at 9:30 am in Largo dos Chorões, with registration to [email protected]
In musical terms, the highlights are the jazz concerts by the Algarve Jazz Orchestra Trio (on the 15th, at 17:30) and by Viviane, who will interpret Édith Piaf, on the 16th, at 17:00.
