Castro Marim honored António Aleixo with music, words and dance

Project is supported by 365Algarve

With words, music and dance, the popular poet António Aleixo was honored, last Saturday, 18 January, in a show in the auditorium of the Municipal Library of Castro Marim.

“Diz-me António” is the name of the initiative.

«António Aleixo, today known and unavoidable name of Portuguese popular poetry, but once so rejected and devalued by critics, leaves a unique poetic work as a legacy, which is affirmed by the irony and richness of spontaneity that he uses in a markedly critical thinking about the society that surrounds it”, says the Chamber of Castro Marim.

«And it was in this same lucid, solid and unpretentious way that “Diz-me António” came to us, by creators and performers Armando Correia, Carolina Cantinho and Pedro Pinto, an organization of Azul – Algarve Theater Network, co-financed by the program 365Algarve and supported by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve», he adds.

In Castro Marim, the show had the special participation of Love To Dance Arutla, a dance group from Altura, a result of the Quás Word and Movement workshop held on Saturday morning at the Municipal Library, within the scope of this same initiative.
